PATH TO PROVIDE EXTRA SERVICE FOR NEW YEAR'S EVE


PATH, the Port Authority's interstate rapid transit system, will provide extra service on New Year's Eve to accommodate holiday revelers traveling to and from Times Square to celebrate the advent of 1999.

Regular weekday service will be provided throughout the day on Thursday, December 31, with extra crews held over if needed. After midnight, the Journal Square-to-33rd Street (via Hoboken) line will run every 10 minutes until 3:30 A.M., while the Newark-to-World Trade line will run every 15 minutes until 3:30 A.M. More frequent service will be provided if necessary.

PATH will operate a regular holiday schedule on New Year's Day, and a regular weekend schedule on Saturday and Sunday, January 2 and 3, 1999.
