NIGHTTIME CLOSINGS AT THE OUTERBRIDGE CROSSING TO BE SUSPENDED FOR THE WINTER AFTER NOVEMBER 15

Nighttime westbound lane closings to New Jersey at the Outerbridge Crossing - required during a deck rehabilitation project on the 71-year-old bridge - will be suspended for the winter after November 15.

The $51.2-million rehabilitation project has required that all westbound lanes be closed at night for necessary repairs to the concrete bridge deck and asphalt surface.

Barring any last-minute complications, the lanes will be open during nighttime hours after November 15. Customers should call the Port Authority's toll-free number at 800 221-9903 for the most up-to-date information. After November 15, the contractor will continue to work on the bridge, and there will be some individual lane closings. The nightly closings will resume in early spring.

Since the three-year project began on May 30, work crews have made repairs to approximately 20 percent of the bridge deck.
