As CIO, Mr. Burnham will direct a staff of more than 200 information services specialists and lead the bistate agency's efforts to make optimum use of information technology in improving its trade and transportation infrastructure. His appointment is effective today.
"Greg Burnham is known for being an innovator and a strong leader in bringing technology solutions to complex business issues," Mr. Boyle said. "A consensus builder, he has worked successfully in collaboration with business units to bring about technology innovations that meet their needs."
Karen A. Antion, the bistate agency's Chief Technology Officer, said, "I am certain that Greg will prove to be a valuable asset to the Port Authority as we rely more and more heavily on technology to improve the movement of goods and people throughout the metropolitan region."
Mr. Burnham most recently held the position of Executive Director of the information services departments for Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceutical Research Institute, where he directed the activities of a staff of more than 250 in all facets of information services, including technical infrastructure, applications development and business consulting.
As CIO and Director of the Port Authority's Information Services Department, Mr. Burnham will support the activities of about 7,600 Port Authority and PATH employees who work at nearly two dozen facilities. These include the region's three main airports, six interstate bridges and tunnels, PATH, the Port Authority Bus Terminal, New York and New Jersey marine terminals, the World Trade Center, waterfront development projects in Hoboken and Queens, and other regional development activities in both states.
A resident of Princeton, N.J., he holds a doctorate in mathematics from Northwestern University. He received his bachelor's degree from Fordham University in the Bronx, N.Y.
