PORT AUTHORITY POLICE SCHEDULE DWI CHECKPOINT AT LINCOLN TUNNEL THIS WEEKEND

Port Authority Police will operate a Driving While Intoxicated checkpoint at the Lincoln Tunnel this weekend to help ensure that travelers have a safe and happy holiday season.

Drivers traveling through the tunnel will be checked between 10 p.m. Friday, December 17, and 6 a.m. Saturday, December 18. In addition to checking drivers, police will distribute literature on the dangers of drinking and driving.

Fred V. Morrone, the Port Authority's Director of Public Safety/Superintendent of Police, said the goal of the checkpoints is to remind people that it is unlawful to drink and drive. "These enforcement measures prevent accidents and save lives," he said.
