PORT AUTHORITY TO SUSPEND TUNNEL, BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION TO MINIMIZE INCONVENIENCE TO THANKSGIVING TRAVELERS -- PATH to operate on holiday schedule Thursday

To ease congestion during one of the busiest travel times of the year, the Port Authority will suspend construction at the George Washington Bridge and three Staten Island crossings later this week.

All construction and maintenance work at the George Washington Bridge will be suspended beginning at noon Wednesday, November 24. The work will resume on Monday, November 29. Work at the three Staten Island crossings will be suspended beginning at 6 A.M. Wednesday, November 24, and will resume at 7 A.M. Friday, November 26. The Port Authority’s tunnels and bridges customer service line is 800 221-9903.

For those traveling by public transit, PATH will operate on a regular holiday schedule on Thanksgiving Day, with trains running every 15 minutes between 9 A.M. and 7:30 P.M. on the Newark-World Trade Center, 33rd Street-Journal Square, Hoboken-33rd Street and Hoboken-World Trade Center lines. Extra trains will be available if necessary to accommodate customers traveling to and from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.
