CHRISTOPHER STREET PATH STATION TO REOPEN OCTOBER 30; 9th STREET STATION NEXT -- All PATH Stations to Be Open for Greenwich Village Halloween Parade

Some PATH customers will get a special Halloween treat when the Christopher Street Station in Manhattan reopens at 7 A.M. Saturday, October 30, after a project that left the station cleaner, brighter and more customer-friendly.

All PATH stations will be open on Sunday, October 31, for the annual Greenwich Village Halloween Parade.

The Christopher Street Station, at Hudson Street, is the second of four Manhattan PATH stations to be cleaned and brightened as part of a system-wide initiative.

The 9th Street Station will be closed beginning at 7 A.M. Monday, November 1, for renovations.

Work at the 14th Street Station was completed in September and the 23rd Street Station renovations will be done early next year.

"I'm sure our customers will be delighted with the improvements we made to the Christopher Street Station," said PATH Director/General Manager Michael P. DePallo. "We want to provide the most customer friendly atmosphere for all our riders."

Under the renovation program, PATH is painting the entrance areas to stations, and installing new wall and floor tiles, handrails and other improvements.

PATH, the rail transit operating subsidiary of the Port Authority, operates 24-hour service between terminals in Newark, Hoboken and lower and midtown Manhattan.

It recently received the Outstanding Achievement Award from the American Public Transit Association - the nation's highest honor for a heavy-rail transit system.
