P.A. TO REPLACE HENRY HUDSON PARKWAY RAMP NEAR GWB -- Construction Work to Cause Modest Delays Early on Sunday, September 13

Manhattan-bound motorists from the Cross Bronx and Major Deegan Expressways and the Harlem River Drive who use the last exit in New York before the George Washington Bridge (181st Street) may experience delays of about 15 minutes early on Sunday, September 13, as the Port Authority rehabilitates a key element of the span's system of roadways.

The work, which could be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather, entails replacement of roadway slabs and rehabilitation of the bridge deck of the ramp that leads to the southbound Henry Hudson Parkway from the Cross Bronx and Major Deegan Expressways. The ramp will be closed from 1 A.M. to 9 A.M. The delays are expected to occur mainly between 1 and 2 A.M. and from 8 to 9 A.M.

Motorists bound for downtown Manhattan should consider alternate routes or follow posted detours. Suggested detours include exiting the Cross Bronx Expressway at Amsterdam Avenue and following detour signs to the Henry Hudson Parkway. New Jersey-bound motorists using the George Washington Bridge are advised to use the upper level.

Weekly construction-schedule updates are available on the Port Authority's Web site, or by calling 1-800-221-9903.
