Motorists are encouraged to listen to radio traffic reports for updates on travel conditions. TRAFFIC ALERTS!



MAJOR WEEKEND PAVING REPLACEMENT PROJECT TO IMPACT
NEW YORK-BOUND GWB USERS


The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has begun the second part of work for the GWB Upper Level Eastbound Pavement Replacement Project on April 4, 2008. The first half of the project was completed in fall of 2007.

Friday, 10 p.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday morning
Saturday, 10 p.m. until 10 a.m. Sunday morning


Three of four eastbound upper level bridge lanes will be closed to traffic. The eastbound lower level, which is normally E-ZPass only, will be staffed to handle both cash and E-ZPass transactions. MAJOR DELAYS ARE EXPECTED. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes, such as the Lincoln Tunnel, for access to New York. Commercial traffic must use the upper level and are advised to budget extra time.

NOTE: This work has been cancelled for this weekend, Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10.



Port Authority Bridge & Tunnel Alerts - REAL-TIME ELECTRONIC ALERT SERVICE

The Port Authority has launched a motorist alert service for its bridge and tunnel customers. The agency is seeking subscriber information to further refine the system. Users are encouraged to send comments by using the feedback button on the subscription page.

Port Authority Bridge & Tunnel AlertsSM is a free subscription service that notifies customers of incidents or events that may delay their trip across Port Authority bridges and tunnels. When you register, you will:
  • Receive free alerts directly to your cellular phone, PDA, pager, or e-mail account
  • Be able to select the facilities as well as the time ranges you wish to monitor

VEHICULAR RESTRICTIONS AT HOLLAND TUNNEL

Commercial vehicles are prohibited from entering New York City via the Holland Tunnel. Commercial vehicles are encouraged to use the Lincoln Tunnel and George Washington Bridge as alternatives.

Commercial vehicles in classes 1, 2 and 3 (two and three-axle single-unit trucks) are permitted to travel IN THE WESTBOUND DIRECTION (TO NEW JERSEY) at all times.

The ban on tractor-trailers and larger trucks in classes 4, 5 and 6 (four, five and six-axle trucks) remains in effect IN BOTH DIRECTIONS at all times. The ban on trailers and towed vehicles remains in effect IN BOTH DIRECTIONS at all times.

Note to Bicyclists Using the George Washington Bridge Sidewalk:
Bicyclists using the sidewalk are asked to walk their bikes for the safety of all sidewalk users. Bicyclists who choose to ride are asked to exercise caution and ride slowly. Pedestrians have the right-of-way at all times.





LINCOLN TUNNEL

Notes:
WEEKEND SERVICE CHANGES
On Saturdays, Sundays, and all Holidays, PATH will operate only two lines with construction underway at World Trade Center. The schedule has increased frequency of the combined JSQ-33rd Street via Hoboken service to every 10 minutes instead of every 15 minutes.

Christopher Street Station will be closed for cleaning from 11:59 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday. Please enter PATH using 9th Street Station.
